TNA Victory Road

Victory Road is a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event held by Total Nonstop Action Wrestling in the US. It was originally the name for the first three-hour pay-per-view card held by TNA in November 2004. In 2006, it became an annual pay-per-view for the month of July. All Events except for the 2008 edition have been held inside the Impact! Zone. It was announced in January 2011 that the event would be moved from July to March, switching places with TNA's traditional March PPV, Destination X^[1]

History

Victory Road is a pay-per-view event consisting of a main event and undercard that feature championship matches and other various matches. The inaugural event took place on November 7, 2004 at the TNA Impact! Zone in Orlando, Florida. All Victory Road PPVS have taken place at the Impact Zone, except for Victory Road (2008), which took place at the Reliant Arena in Houston, Texas.

Victory Road (2004) was the very first 3 hour pay-per-view produced by TNA. It did not take place in 2005 as it was replaced by Unbreakable. Beginning in 2006, Victory Road has become a permanent PPV on the TNA schedule.

From 2006 to 2010, Victory Road took place in the month of July. Beginning with Victory Road (2011), it now takes place in the month of March. Victory Road was switched with TNA's traditional March PPV, Destination X.^[1]

  • Devine pinned Shark Boy after a Devine Intervention.
• The Naturals (Chase Stevens and Andy Douglas) (with Shane Douglas) defeated The Diamonds in the Rough (Elix Skipper and David Young) (with Simon Diamond) (05:27)
  • Douglas pinned Skipper after a Last Breath.
• Monty Brown fought Rhino to a no contest (04:56)
  • The match was declared a no contest after referee Andrew Thomas was knocked out twice and Rhino and Brown fought into the crowd.
• The Latin American Exchange (Homicide and Hernandez) (with Konnan) defeated Sonjay Dutt and Ron Killings (10:07)
  • Hernandez pinned Dutt after a Border toss.

  • Afterwards Raven shaved Zbyszko bald. Zbyszko resisted violently, threatening to fire everybody involved, and eventually kicking a taunting Mark "Slick" Johnson in the groin when Slick showed him a mirror.

  • Early in the match, Jeff Jarrett(c), who was disguised as a cameraman, used a squirt bottle to squirt gasoline in Sting's eyes. Sting came back with one eye bandaged and finished the match.

• Dark match: Serotonin (Havok and Martyr) defeated Akira Raijin and Brute Issei (04:20)
  • Martyr pinned Raijin.
• Christopher Daniels won an Ultimate X Gauntlet match (18:48)
  • Daniels grabbed the "X" with the help of Skipper and Senshi to become number one contender to the TNA X Division Championship.
  • The match also involved: Jay Lethal, Puma, Homicide, Sonjay Dutt, Petey Williams, Shark Boy, Elix Skipper, Kaz and Senshi.
  • The match started out as a Gauntlet, but became a standard Ultimate X match once all ten wrestlers were in the ring.
• The Voodoo Kin Mafia (B.G. James and Kip James) (with Roxxi Laveaux) defeated Basham and Damaja (with Christy Hemme and Lance Hoyt) (07:03)
  • Kip pinned Damaja after B.G. hit Damaja with a steel chair.
• James Storm defeated Rhino (10:26)
  • Storm pinned Rhino after hitting him with a beer bottle.
  • Jackie Moore was banned from ringside, but came out to help Storm attack Rhino after the match.
• The Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley) (with Kevin Nash) defeated Jerry Lynn and Bob Backlund (08:44)
  • Sabin pinned Lynn after an Enzuigiri / Superkick combination.
  • During the match, Nash interfered on Sabin and Shelley's behalf.

  • Kim pinned Brooks after Roode inadvertently hit her with an elbow drop.

  • Cage pinned Harris with a roll-up after Dustin Rhodes hit Harris in the back with a pair of handcuffs.

  • Abyss pinned Tomko after a Black Hole Slam.

  • Joe pinned Ray after Scott Steiner hit Ray with a steel pipe and Kurt hit an Olympic slam.
  • Per the pre-match stipulation, Joe won the Tag Team Championship and was allowed to pick his partner.
  • Angle's World Heavyweight Championship and Joe's X Division Championship were also on the line.
  • During the match, The Steiner Brothers (Scott and Rick Steiner) interfered and attacked Team 3D.
